What is dental bonding?

Problems like stained or chipped teeth can be embarrassing, and you might think that you'll need expensive porcelain veneers or crowns to restore your smile. There is, however, a procedure called dental bonding that tends to be less expensive and can restore some of the small cosmetic imperfections that crowns and veneers do.

What Problems Can Dental Bonding Fix?

Like porcelain veneers, your Paducah dentist can use dental bonding to fix imperfections like:

  • Gaps between teeth
  • Stains or discoloration
  • Chipped or fractured teeth
  • Some tooth size discrepancies

During dental bonding, Dr. Bridges uses the same material for a dental filling, which is called composite resin. However, he can customize the composite material to match your tooth for a seamless repair that we can typically complete during one visit.

The difference between porcelain veneers and dental bonding is that we can use them to design a new size, shape, and shade for the tooth because a veneer completely covers your tooth. This is especially useful in full smile design plans where patients are redesigning the appearance of their smiles.
